The Bannwald Challenge
I have often Bliped in this forest on the edge of Ottobeuren. Not sure of the right translation as "Bann" has several meanings: it could be "Protected Forest" or possibly "Spell Forest" from which I would call it The Bewitched Forest!
As I usually go to Ottobeuren once a week to get fresh dog food from the butcher, I take the opportunity for a change to the dog walk. The forest has many different marked paths for walkers, X-country skiiers, nordic walkers & an "Experience Path" which includes several quizzes on the way & as I included a quiz question yesterday, will try to Blip a Quiz from this forest once a week.
Bliped is the start board explaining the path. Here a translation:
Welcome to our ?Experience Path" in the Bannwald. Here you can experience nature with all your senses. The woodpecker shows you the way. The path invites you, at a further eleven points, to test your knowledge but above all, with fun and pleasure, to re-discover the forest through observation, touch, smell & hearing.
The path is 2.8km long & (using the signposted detours) also suitable for childrens buggys. Walking time around 1.5 Hours.
Forestry Office, Ottobeuren Town Council, Ottobeuren
Yellow= Road
Black= Foot/Forest path
Blue= Stream
Red= Experience path (dotted: Detour buggy)
Red Dots= Quiz/Experience points
Starting point is at Point 1 top right hand of map near the blue Parking signs.
Today the walk took nearly 2 hours as it was like an ice rink and I was in a hurry as forecast was for a good load of snow, which indeed started as we drove home.
