New Zealand dotterel

A very poor shot of this shore wader, but cell phones are NOT the best cameras for birds! Hanging around and feeding along the waters edge as the tide starts to go out at Mangawhai estuary.
Although reasonably commonly seen around the north east coasts of the North Island, this species is listed as endangered and I believe the total number is only around 2000.
