It seems that my days are mostly centered around food - either cooking it or eating it. I have a lot of back blips to put up and they are mostly concerning food from memory. It makes a good emergency Blip.
My English friend came over for a last morning coffee before lockdown on Tuesday. I baked an apple and custard cake which was delicious but nearly ended up as hot smashed pudding. It was meant to be left in the tin for 20 minutes then turned out onto a cake rack. I turned it out and could see that the custard in the middle wasn’t set and was in danger of oozing out. I turned it back over and the cake fell apart. After staring at it in disbelief for a few seconds I quickly stuffed the cake upside down back into the tin hoping it would glue itself back together. After waiting a while we decided to eat it warm as a pudding but it actually held together apart from one piece that had lost its custard. I made baked quinces during the week so I gave my friend some to taste and some to take home. i also put some square pop cakes on a plate To ramp up the sugar fix. I will make the cake again but will leave it in the tin until it has cooled next time.
