Out of the woods

Smooch

Let me introduce you to this fellow.
Kompis (mening Buddy) is a typical big male, homeless cat, roaming his territory for food, shelter, mates. He had ceryainly an owner and he grew up around humans since he is very secure and loves human company.
A woman contacted us while staying in town a few month to clear her mothers apartement after she died. Just weeks away from moving back home north, she notices him and asked around the neighborhood. They told he has been around quite a while, getting food here and there. So she makes it her mission to help him since he shows sign of illness, and contact us if we have space if she gets him neutered, chipped and vet-cleared. And we had a room at the Shelter. He came in anemic and with a bad infection, Fiv-positiv as well. So the chances were 50-50.
But he responded well to the antibiotics. But then we got a spreading of cat-influensa at the Shelter and it hit him hard barely being finished with his own sickness.
So as soon as my former emergency patient Anne (see picture in the extra) moved out to her forever home, he moved into my cellar. He could not breathe, he would sneeze for minutes, and when ever he drank or ate, he would fight for air. He was so weak but so thankful, he just crept onto my lap.
After 2 weeks he was so much better and he got his first vaccine. He had me worried once more, this week. Suddenly he limped and his back was all wrong. So I rushed him to the vet. They x-rayed his back which shows some arthrosis. He is a lot older than the first vet thought (suggestions were 4 years old due to his teeth), and he is probably at least 8.
I was relieved that nothing was broken and that some painkillers when needed is all that is necessary.
He also has a suitor. A friend of Lars fell in love when she met him while visiting us. She just waits for the ok from her landlord
