The woods

It's much lighter in the woods, now that most of the leaves are down.  Some of the small young trees still have leaves on, thanks to the protection from the elements of the tall trees. In extras, a fantastic crop of berries on a bush in a garden that we pass on our walks.  

I was sad this evening to witness on camera a blue tit being attacked by a sparrow inside the nestbox where the blue tit has been sleeping every night for weeks. When I saw this, I went out and banged the nestbox with a handy piece of pipe, and the sparrow flew off. However, it was too late; the blue tit was dead.  Nature can be cruel.
