Hundertwasser
This is the interior of the gents toilets in Kawakawa near Russell. They were designed by Frederick Hundertwasser an Austrian architect and and artist who lived here for the last years of his life on and off. His art is avant-garde, he rejected order and curves and used bright colours. The outside is similarly distinctive with columns and orbs and grass growing from the roof

He died in 2000.
The toilets have become a tourist attraction and the town itself has extended the style of Hundertwasser into murals and street furniture. It is one of the few I have seen with a railway line running down the middle of the Main Street. It's only periodically used now by vintage trains.
