Do the Strand

I’ve read that the original Waterloo Bridge was to be called the Strand Bridge, but before completion it was decided to rename it in honour of Wellington’s victory. So the discarded welly on the steps seems appropriate, somehow.
The current bridge is apparently known as the Ladies Bridge (though I’ve never heard anyone call it that), as it was built by a predominantly female workforce during WWII.
