Pond before Winter

Just a record shot today of the stage I've reached on the pond before Winter. I was busy getting my finances up to date this morning, then this afternoon I cleared out the gutters at the back of the property and received my Sainsbury's delivery.

Day 242 / Day 8 of Lockdown 2 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 563 to 50,928 (revised basis), with 33.470 new cases, 14,030 patients in hospital and 1,268 on ventilation (delays in processing Eng deaths data - again!). New cases went up 46% in one day, a really bizarre jump, I jinxed it by commenting yesterday that new cases had stabilised over the last 3 weeks. This is the highest daily figure reported for the UK. There is speculation about it being 12 days after lockdown was announced, but which didn't come into effect for just over 4 days resulting in some idiots partying 'whilst they still could'. I wondered if mass testing was having an impact, but that doesn't explain the sudden jump unless there's been a delay in results being received. Latest figures from T&T show it's still only reaching 60.4% of contacts of people testing positive w/e 4/11, although 85% of those testing positive were reached. Hull now has the highest number of infections in England. NI has extended lockdown by 1 week. A quarter of deaths in France are due to Covid-19. Greece is now on the quarantine list with other countries taken off. We had a briefing today with no news - a bit odd.  140,000 of the 4.35m on hospital waiting lists have been waiting over a year, the highest level since 2008. GDP grew by 15.5% in Q3, but is still 8.2% smaller than pre-pandemic. And Covid has hit Strictly - Katya has tested positive, so her and Nicola Adams have to withdraw from the competition and self isolate.
