Winter shapes

A lovely early, but slightly later, Thursday morning walk with my neighbour D. Walking in pairs now we are in lockdown.

There was a hint of colour in the sky as we crossed the cricket and football pitch but no great sunrise but the light through the trees as we entered the woods showed off the remains of Autumn colours.
What struck me with this shot, apart for the blue of the sky, was the winter silhouettes of the trees. Hardly a leaf left to be seen. Beautiful in their own way.

Despite the early hour we saw a couple of friends out walking their dogs but non of the other ‘ladies’ who walk.
A good time to be out.

When the post arrived at lunchtime there was a large handwritten envelope for me. It contained a copy of the funeral service of a good friend and ex colleague. Living in East Devon we hadn’t seen her for a year or two as suffering from cancer for more than five years she was concerned about infection. I spoke to her during the earlier lockdown and she told me that she had stopped treatment as the cancer was the lesser of two evils and she was advised she was more likely to die from COVID 19.  Who can say which was the most responsible .

Bless you Heather, keep them laughing and I’ll raise a glass to you this evening.
