The sky at night

This is a view of my night sky at 4am. Bottom left is the Orion constellation and you can just about make out the nebular in Orion's sword. The Pleiades cluster (Seven Sisters) are visible bottom centre. No sign of any meteors from the Northern Taurids as shadowy clouds drifted across the sky.

It has been unseasonably warm here for the last 5 days and last night the outside temperature was still above 60 F. Only 13 days ago we had 6 inches of snow.

I was woken by someone who couldn't sleep because it was too hot and who had already been outside on the deck. I was tempted by the tales of starry skies. How could I resist?
