More eyesight testing
Until lockdown was announced we’d been going to have a family walk at the weekend but no we we can only meet one person in a public space, and have nobody in the house, #2 daughter decided to come on her own. She works 3 days a week due to Covid, so dropped the boys off and arrived by 10.
We set off on the usual moor walk, taking the long way through the woods then did the top carriage drive, the Primrose cottage loop, and down the red road to Blue Mill, up those woods, back by the lower carriage drive and home. Luckily we’d taken our lunch. Daughter brought a mini bottle of Prosecco and posh chocolates as I won’t be seeing the family on my birthday. The fog lifted and the sun appeared for the first time in several days so we sat on a rock and enjoyed the treat. I don’t like drinking in the day as it makes me sleepy but there was no chance of that happening.
We had a lovely chat with no children to interrupt. Good news is the James, who was sent by the school in his first term in reception to the Ed psych for behavioural issues, seems much less challenging at school this year. His teacher told daughter that if she’d not known his history she’d not have realised he’d had a problem. Obviously he still has his moments but at least he’s moving in the right direction. I think maybe all the time at home with his mum will have helped him.
I did over 20000 steps and 8.5 miles for the first time in months. I’m tired though.
The bad news is the electricity people have put a generator right outside our house. The electricity on our street is going off on Friday for 6 hours and the same the next Friday. I don’t know why the generator is there- Mr C suspects it will be running day and night for 2 weeks. In the scheme of things that’s not too much to complain about. Apparently Dominic Cummings’ father in law had something to do with a vaccine company. I hope our government isn’t giving a contract to a company which doesn’t make vaccines - they did engage a company to provide ferries to transport stuff after Brexit but the company didn’t actually have any ferries.
