The view from a bridge.
We have a lot of jobs going on at the Lodge so a visit was required. We decided to go via Pooley Bridge hoping to be able to get parked and take a photo. Well we achieved half our aim, there was somewhere to park. Unfortunately with the car park on the northern side still busy with machines and men, there is no view from there. On the southern side the view can usually be seen from Grannie Dowbekin's Café garden. Obviously with lockdown there was no access there.
So I had to settle for a view looking from the bridge towards the Lake and the fells. What did I think of the bridge? Not having yet seen the side view it is hard to say, but a few observations. Why when building a new bridge make it only single track? Why use a stone which isn't local fro the walls leading on to the bridge? KNowing how pedestrians will want to see the view from both sides of the bridge is a kerb which rises 30 cm (1foot) above the pavement and requires a step down onto the road of 60 cm (2 foot) really sensible?
