2143. New war memorial
We saw them working on this a wee while ago and it was obviously completed in time for Remembrance Sunday and it looks very nice indeed.
Took a walk into town this morning to complete a few things and bought two more Christmas presents meaning that we only have my grandson to buy for and he hasn’t finally decided what he wants yet.
I even managed to post out two of my three international parcels on Saturday and I hope they both make it.
Christmas is going to be strange this year I think as I doubt we will see any of the grandkids on Boxing Day like we usually do but I had a chat with Arron on Saturday and suggested that Santa might deliver presents a little earlier because of covid restrictions so we might have an early Christmas lunch out somewhere and hand over his gifts then so we can see him opening them...might even do the same with the older two if we can pin them down to a date!
I have to admit to feeling slightly more hopeful in general now that Trump is hopefully finally going to go...there might be some that say that US politics are not the business of those in the UK (or indeed the rest of the world) but what happens there matters to us all and if we can see a move away from division to a more inclusive government there then maybe, just maybe we can do that here in the UK. As the parent of a non-binary offspring I have watched with dismay the erosion of hard won acceptance in the broader society for the LGBTQi community and the damaging rhetoric from the current government not only for this community but also for many other religious communities, not forgetting the dreadful anti-foreigner stance of many members of our parliament. We have to fight to ensure that race, gender, sexual orientation, disability and religious beliefs are never used as tools for discrimination in our society and I hope that we will continue to see these values move forward.
