Woodland Encounters
I took a short trip out to Cobham Wood on the Kent Downs with its 18th century mausoleum. The mausoleum (extra) was built for the Earls of Darnley after their vault in Westminster Abbey became full. However it was never consecrated and remains unused.
The ancient woodland pasture, owned by the National Trust, is kept in check by a herd of Highland Cattle, who roam freely around the almost 190 acres of grassland with mature trees.
