Double Trouble

As if one election is not bad enough, a select few of us have been grappling with a second.

The party has been selecting its candidates for the Scottish Parliament elections in May. The Boss is standing again, and in that situation mostly the candidate  is selected unopposed. 

However, someone chose to challenge him. For the last 3 months he has had that to deal with on top of all the routine day job stuff. It is the party members within the constituency who get to choose.The ballot closed at 12 noon today. 

I knew an announcement of the results was expected after 4pm. He phoned at 5.30 pm to tell me he had won. He wanted all his staff to know before the public announcement. 

So, at least we know now what we are doing until May. (More of the same, but better.) It has been a fraught and unsettling time for all of us. A few people have been added to my Never Speak to Again list. Many have gone up in my estimation. 

In the context, this made me laugh...
