Mudstone!
Dull, damp and drizzly and son#1 now has a cold - why is it as soon as you stop working something nasty hits you? Anyway, we decided to brave the weather and headed out to this little strand on the north side. It was most satisfactory for the sea was a luminous bluey grey and at the edges of the strand were some amazing rock - carboniferous sandstones and mudstones (just looked it up!) Weird and wonderful folds, curves and layers including a wind and seas blasted tunnel. Two seals also popped up to have a look at us.
The other excitement to be spotted is a little ring fort on that grassy green promontory!
