Starlings coming in to roost

I went out to Deerness with a ringer pal for the last session of ringing. Not many birds about- only 3 ringed; a blackbird, a redwing and a male blackcap. The last one already had a ring showing that it came from Belgium. That's 1055 km! Continental birds do move to the UK in the winter but this one seems to have rather veered far north.
