Purple Sandpipers
I went for a walk along the shore of Eynhallow Sound at Evie and it was very, very windy. The tide was high and on the turn so there were not as many small waders on the shore as there would be when the tide was lower. There were lapwings, turnstones, snipe, redshanks and a few ringed plover but I was surprised there was only a couple of purple sandpipers. I thought that this flock was of turnstone until I got home, had a closer look and realised that they were purples! About 18 in total.
