MONO MONDAY - CURVES AND CIRCLES
Our Waitrose order was delivered and put away before 8.15 this morning so we decided to go out to Jack’s for a last drink before the lockdown. We also wanted to order a carpet for my Quiet Room so that once I have finished the decorating the carpet can be laid and it will be all cosy.
I see that the theme for today is “Shape and Form in the Landscape – Curves and Circles” and whilst this is not actually a landscape, nor is it outside, it’s what we saw this morning as we sat in Jack’s having our last cup of coffee and pot of tea. We haven’t been up there for some time so it was good to see the staff and to have a chat with them before the lockdown on Thursday when obviously, they will be closed for a month.
When we left Jack’s, Margaret, the friend that we often used to see up there, was outside “warming her nose“ - her expression for having a cigarette, so we stopped and had a lovely chat with her. She lives on her own with just her cat for company so I told her that I would be in touch and we could have a chat in the next few days to see how she’s getting on. I also said that if there was anything she needed she should let us know and we will do what we can to help. However, she said that she has good neighbours who look out for her, which was good to hear.
We haven’t sent Christmas cards for a few years but decided that perhaps this year we would send them again as it’s going to be rather different this Christmas for everyone. We decided that we would support the DEBRA charity, so called in there and bought some Christmas cards - at least in between decorating I will now have something to do! However, I knew I shouldn’t have let Mr. HCB come into the shop, as he bought four more jigsaw puzzles - as if he doesn’t have enough - so guess that means he won’t be writing any Christmas cards - not that he ever did - but doing more jigsaw puzzles!
After ordering the carpet we are now back at home ready to “hunker down” although Mr. HCB is at present in the garden pottering before it starts raining again. This afternoon we will be attending a live-streamed funeral service for our dear friend, Mary, who died last month. We pray that it will be a good service for her immediate family, some of whom will be joining in from the United States, and also our Church family as we say our “Goodbyes” and thank God for Mary’s long life and the influence she had on so many people.
“You are a piece of the puzzle
of someone else’s life;
you may never know where you fit,
but others will fill the holes in their lives
with pieces of you.”
