Next house....maybe

Well, myself and the wife are no longer in the house buying business (for ourselves that is - still looking for other people though!) but this one is one for the back burner.

It's an abandoned house, unpaid taxes for the last few years, owner died 15 years ago and no probate, so no contact of who to make an offer to.

So this one could be a long process. From what I understand we pay the old property tax bills, and when they reach a certain age (which because they are not bought at the moment) they mature instantly, we can then call a foreclosure sale. It doesn't mean we get the property.

However, if we own the old tax certificates, we are the ones who control the timing of the sale. Considering we have 5 properties that need work on yet, this can go on the back burner.

And even if we don't get the house at the foreclosure sale - all our costs get reimbursed plus interest!

Going to take advice on this one tomorrow.
