Summer will come

Productive weekend in the garden with a new beech hedge planted. It has been a hedge planting winter. In gardening manuals, the advice is simple. Basically, dig a hole and put the plant in.

When you are dealing with a new build, digging a hole may not be straightforward. There are stones and rocks and small boulders. The is some spilled aggregates which have developed an intimacy with spilled concrete. There is often little which might be described as soil. Sometimes it is more excavation than digging.

A modest hedge is now in place and I came in at the end of the day very content with life but without a blip. It had become dark outside and the what-might-have-been-interesting tulips were in the bucket.

But there were these tiles which Ellen did in her brief period as a small business woman. They are of summer flowers and I'm looking forward to seeing them again.
