Eve is in Surrey these days and she used to plan her Halloween outfits and make up weeks in advance. Ruby is in Embra. Joe has an evening shift at the supermarket. The days of taking them out guising are long over. So, a quiet night beckons, perhaps with some wickedly delicious cheeses from the cheese lady.

As going from door to door isn’t the done thing at the moment, people have been putting pumpkins out on walls and there’s lots of sweets for the kids in large cobwebs that have been put in the branches of small trees around the village.
