Something beginning with M

Bit less wet today but still grey and windy and not very inviting for a trip to the beach. I had to zoom into a board meeting so A&N looked after the kids then we had some lunch and headed to the forest to meet up with S. As you might expect from a teacher who’s become an explorer and outdoors ambassador she’d prepared a scavenger hunt for AR and Mx so we tramped off through the mud (first thing beginning with m!) to find toadstools, prickly things, sticks, different shaped leaves etc etc. It was a beautiful part of the forest and although very muddy in parts it was lovely and the trees were stunning. AR bleated a lot about wanting a drink (of course we’d left the drinks in the car-rookie error) but otherwise they were really good and enjoyed hunting for things.
At one point we said the dog was being a cheeky monkey pushing in front of us but Mx thought we were talking about him. He was most indignant and said ‘I not a cheeky monkey, I’m a sausage!’. Made us all laugh....
When we got back to the car there was tea, coffee and homemade flapjacks! Real surprise treat and delicious....S clearly knows how to do this properly!
Went for a wander around Burley to see the Halloween decorations and then home.
S came round for a nostalgic chat about the house then once the kids were bathed and in bed we got an Indian takeaway and had an early night.
