Diary of an Edinburgher

Spooky Sunday

Another lazy day. It takes up quite a bit of time fiddling around, downloading the new Times app. And getting rid of the old one with all the old papers clogging up my iPad storage. They had a live online Q&A, so that was great. Poor James, for it was he, was answering tetchy questions from tetchy people whose new app kept crashing. But I was a satisfied customer.

Flights and hotel booked for Barcelona. We'll meet our swappees over there, which doesn't usually happen. I was last there when there was no roof on the Sagrada Familia. I pulled a calf muscle going fast (I was a lot younger then) all the way down the spiral staircase of one of the towers. A pulled calf muscle in a city on holiday tends to curb one's enjoyment a bit... Maybe they've got a lift now.

Went to see Lincoln. It was long, but I didn't fidget once. DDL was BORN to play Lincoln! The sets and lighting and costumes were superb, even if the dialogue was a bit mystifying at times.

After the film I wandered down the road to get a nightime blip. It was a balmy evening, with no wind. I went into the graveyard and walked around, trying to get an uninterrupted view of the castle. I quite spooked myself. And that was before a twig, on an unseen overhanging branch, touched my cheek in the middle of the path! Jings! If I hadn't had my camera round my neck, I would have dropped it!!

I've added a few London touristy shots to my blipfolio, if you care to have a look:

The Shard
Big Ben at night
Churchill Statue
Westminster Bridge
St Paul's

What an amazing city it is! Can't wait till our next visit. Don't think we'll go by bus next time, though... Life is too short!

I'm excited about my Bird Watching Class which starts tomorrow. What will I see? And will I know it if I see it? Unlikely.
