Creating a garden

It was getting harder to mow around our Rhododendrons, so we created a new garden and will add more “woodland” type planting in it. 
Jill killed off the grass by laying black plastic over it for 3 weeks, taking it off and mowing it as low as the mower could go. 
Today we spread cardboard all over the area, and then a layer of mulch which will help break down the cardboard.
It was an interesting project and great to finish it off today-apart from adding some new plants every now and then!
We have friends from Dunedin coming for dinner and staying overnight.
