King of the Castle
It was a lovely day today, so we decided to go for a drive in the Trossachs. We thought we'd have lunch in the cafe on Loch Venachar, but of course loads of people had the same idea so we couldn't get a table. We carried on to Brig O' Turk and luckily the Byre Inn had tables free. We had a very nice lunch, if a bit larger than we'd anticipated. It's a really nice place and the service was very good. They got Orla's order wrong but fixed it with no hassle and took her meal off the bill. They also have little piles of books and games on each table, which is a nice touch, and a cosy atmosphere with mellow music, candles and an open fire.
After lunch we headed to Callander. We tried feeding the ducks but they didn't seem very hungry. They were probably sick of bread, the number of people who were feeding them today! We tried to get Orla to do more practice on her scooter, but she won't really try. I ended up taking it back to the car. She spent some time in the playground then we walked back along the river and she went up the little hill with her dad. She kept shouting down to me to come up too, as there was "lots of lovely view". It was a bit much for me though, I'm pretty knackered now.
Then, much to my excitement, we headed to the new Waitrose in Stirling. We had a cuppa in the cafe and got some stuff for dinner. And stocked up on bread flour from their excellent selection! A quick trip into Andrew and Linda's to give Stephen his birthday present and have a wee cuddle with the twins (just Arron on this occasion) then home to catch up on Africa.
