Life in the leaf litter.

Surprise, surprise, I've spent most of the day clearing leaves. When they're dry they can be very good insulation and I've disturbed a number of ladybirds, a wasp and even a cricket during the clear up. Most most were just moved to a bay where they can compost and the critters can settle for the winter.

There was a slight feeling of playing Russian roulette as I emptied the barrow full containing the wasp with bare hands.
