Grummet

I don't think in English that one makes a difference between the various dried grass harvests. In Germany, the first harvest of the year is "Heu" = Hay and the 2nd or in good years 3rd, is called "Grummet".

This is on the "organic" fields along the River West Günz, Ottobeuren and which our Schickling walk goes directly over. Nice to see hay instead of silage. Milk marketed as "Hay-Milk" is increasingly making inroads but is still expensive in the supermarkets. I think there is now more hay-milk produced than the dairies can sell but I hope it doesn't end up with the price paid to these organic farmers being reduced.

Standard milk costs €0.75 litre & people not prepared to pay €1.50 for a litre of quality food but happy to pay nearly double for a litre of discounted Corona beer €2.93 - see the extra photo taken in local suprmarket this evening. Cheap but good beer costs same as standard milk, around €0.70, well known brand beer €1.40. Who the heck buys Corona?
