Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park

The hoped for glimmer of sunshine didn’t appear, but at least it stayed dry, and after lunch we drove up to Hamilton to Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, where we went for a walk and a drive around the sculptures. There are a couple of temporary exhibits at the moment. “Borders” by Steinunn Thorarinsdottir, an Icelandic sculptor, comprises a series of 11 pairs of cast iron and cast aluminium , life sized, figurative sculptures, set amidst the park’s rolling hills, gardens and ponds, and is meant to make us ponder the ways in which all humans are connected, despite our outward differences. Another exhibition is put on in conjunction with the Mid-South Sculpture Alliance, displaying nine outdoor sculptures, including a mix of abstract and representational work from artists around the country. The lower left and lower right are from this exhibition, “Anticipation” by Jason Kimes, lower left, and Eudora Welt Wreath by Kristen Tordella-Williams, on the right. Top left is part of their permanent collection, “Extent” by Clement Meadmore (1929 - 2005), an Australian-American sculptor known for his massive steel sculptures. Upper centre is entitled Shhh by Chakaia Booker. Since we were over that side of town, On our way back we stopped in at Jungle Jim’s international store in Fairfield to stock up on a few British food items!
