Koffiepoel
Autumn at the golden hour at the Koffiepoel.
The "Koffiepoel" is a remnant of lignite quarry Energie. Along the edges there used to be an oligotrophic seepage environment with a lot of Lesser sundew (Drosera intermedia), sphagnum moss (Sphagnum sp.), Rare sedges (Carex sp), Dwarf broom (), and Marsh Helleborine (Epipactis palustris). In 1980, the water level was lowered for angling, causing the oligotrophic seepage environment to dry up and the special vegetation to disappear. The peat mosses decreased by 90%. In the winter there are often considerable numbers of Mandarin Ducks on the Koffiepoel
