Wolds Wildlife Park.
We went here for a visit today. It is a small wildlife place close to Horncastle. It will be bigger eventually as there is lots of building work going on. All the animals were really lovely, most rescue animals or taken from other establishments which closed down.
However I was not really impressed with the place. Several of the animals showed signs of not being happy and many of the enclosures seemed too small - particularly the bears (there is an extra of the male bear) and the big cats. There was sign up to say that they are building a bigger enclosure for the lions and their small spaces are just a temporary measure.
I think their heart is in the right place but they have tried to run before they can walk. It was hard to get shots of many of the animals (for me at least!) as they were in cages made with wire and the camera would only focus on the wire.
We have visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park many times and they have much better living arrangements for their animals who seem much happier.
The weather today was a very mixed bag - dark and rainy one minute, sunshine the next. Tomorrows weather looks as bad so I have arranged to go to my folks' tomorrow so we can go out somewhere Wednesday which will hopefully be better!
My main shot shows zebras and camels. An emu too, if you can spot it!
