Moving Into The Unknown

Ted

The afternoon sun warmed Ted's face as I sat down to talk with him today.  "Getting colder" he said, "so this sun feels good."  Ted is a 61 year old Navy vet living on the streets.  He worked his entire life until recently.  "Hope to get my social security soon, if I can hang on," he told me.  An alcohol addiction led Ted to leave his old life behind and that's when he landed on the streets.  "It's got me," he admitted.  "But I pray to God every day that things will change."

Ted's cane was recently stolen when he went for a community meal at a local church.  "I went to get my coat afterward and the cane was gone."   He showed me the stick he's using now and said it works just fine.  He  proudly pointed to the 20 degree sleeping bag that someone recently gave to him.  "Just need to find a covered place to sleep now."

Another neighbor that I've met for the first time.
