DO NOT DISTURB

The weather forecast was good for today so my suggestion of a trip to the Lake District was accepted. Not at first. But later when he had remembered that he had not seen a Hawfinch yet this year, there was an about turn. So first stop was Sizergh Castle and a Hawfinch or two.

Then onwards towards the Langdale Pikes. Just before Windermere it dawned on me that is was half-term, and a good part of England had decided to visit the Lakes. I really must note these things on the calendar and stay at home at such times. As we very, very slowly neared Ambleside the weather became murkier and when we finally reached the Pikes, they were nowhere to be seen. But then on the plus side, hardly anyone else had ventured this far either.

So instead of a calendar style view of the magnificent Langdale Pikes, the best I could do, other than a fuzzy Hawfinch, was this equally fuzzy, taken through the car window, cat.

He was rather gorgeous though, intent on hunting something over the fence, but hopping from paw to paw atop his fence post and trying to avoid snagging his wonderful tail on the barbed wire.
