Connected and Disconnected
(Please view large)
Dutch sculptor, Hanneke Beaumont' s first major museum exhibition in the United States, is in Grand Rapids, MI. "Connected and Disconnected" features fourteen terra cotta, bronze and iron sculptures plus amazing large-scale drawings.
She has incredible command of the human figure. I am knocked out cold by her artfully rendered, textured surfaces and the mood of thoughtfulness and introspection they suggest. Some, are massive pieces of iron with jagged shards. Yet, all are marked by physical stillness.
These two are called Terra Cottas #29, #27.
The exhibit runs through April. I will go back often and blip more.
