Somebody who lives lived up on Wildwood Mountain Road brought their truck down and left it by the bridge over the creek across the road presumably to get it out of the path of the fire. It didn’t work. There used to be a dozen or two houses up this private road at the end of our street. People who have gone up there say it is utter devastation with only a couple of houses surviving...
We won’t be going up there. We have enough devastation right here.
We saw Janet, our neighbor to the west who told me that they are going to rebuild. She sounded very positive about it and we are glad that we will be keeping them as neighbors. Her husband just had surgery on his foot and is on crutches so will need to be a little more mobile before he’s ready to scramble around in the rubble. We’ll get together for a drink in our backyard in a couple of weeks to contemplate the view and get their input about the rebuilding of the fence.
High winds and low humidity this weekend are prompting another reg flag warning and possible power shutdown. I had to postpone the ‘Merry Maids’ who were going to come Monday to deep clean the inside of the house. They can hardly do that if there is no power and no water! I would pack up and go to a hotel if it weren’t for Ozzie. As it is, I have to admit that I am really struggling to maintain my equanimity, not to mention getting a decent night’s sleep....
