The dropped stitch

St Ninian's

With the Shetland break nearly at an end, this was a day of trying to be in too many places at once.

A morning visit to V for a catch up. Dropping by for a chat on a late October day one would not usually choose to sit in the garden in Shetland but anxious to stick to 'the rules', that is what we did. Each wrapped in a rug, to stop the teeth chattering, we managed to cover a wide range of topics - until time and teeth demanded an end to the visit.

After lunch there was time for a quick visit to St Ninian's Isle beach. Much photographed, this beautiful beach is often used in promotional material for Shetland. For locals too, it's a favourite place and a bright, dry Sunday had brought out a real crowd of people - families, dog walkers, joggers. I have never seen so many folk on the beach. Still, plenty of room and we enjoyed a brisk walk across and back.

The rest of the day was devoted to a pool tournament and card tricks.

The extra is one of several beautiful rugs V carted out to the garden to keep us warm.
