Space To Take Place

Dutch designer Claudia Linders designed this 100 meter long bench. The idea is that this bench (which consists of 1000 pieces) is a gift, through thousand "deeds of gift" to 1000 receivers. It means the receiver will become as it were, co-owner of a piece of Amsterdam on the IJ. This location at the new area IJburg in Amsterdam is related to "the innovative character 'of the area. According to the designer the location is "highly representative for Dutch architecture and the extension and density of housing issues. Moreover, the place is a 'symbol of the Dutch struggle against the water and its engineering tradition.
