Still Day at Stourhead

Today we braved the A303 again, for our first visit to Stourhead House and Gardens.  What an amazing place for an autumn walk!

Again, the National Trust and its volunteers had done an amazing job of managing the facilities and the parklands to provide a safe, relaxing environment for everybody.

The views were too good for me to really do them justice, as we walked around.  You can understand why there were photographers with tripods at several key locations, waiting for the sun to break through or the breeze to drop; but everyone got on.

Our new satnav, Malcolm, did an amazing job of getting us back home avoiding the Friday afternoon queues at Stonehenge; although some of the single-track roads he took us down were a bit scary!  However, we did also get to see four army tanks on manoeuvres on Salisbury Plans as part of our return journey.  And for tea we had Stourhead pasties from the Farm Shop!
