A Hole In The Cloud
Though dull, it was mild and very calm at Lodge Farm this afternoon. This is unusual as there's usually a breeze blowing up the valley. I heard a skylark singing which I don't think I've heard at this time of year before. However, I've read that they will sing during non-breeding periods as an anti-predator deterrent. It is thought that by singing, the skylark is indicating to a potential predator that it is strong and in a healthy condition. I got nice images of a yellowhammer and a magpie in flight.
I shot the above as we were returning to the car. The sun briefly poked through a hole in the cloud.
