Earlsburn Reservoirs #1 and #2
Taking the reservoir project seriously we set off this morning to tick the two Earlsburn Reservoirs off the list. I suppose they're 5 or 6 miles south west of Stirling and I can honestly say they were completely new territory to me. You park by a (very) minor road and set off up a rough track into the hills. Earlsburn #2 comes first, you walk round it, climb a rusty gate and carry on to Earlsburn #1. The track ends here but you can climb over the fence and walk along the dam.
This is at the end of the track looking out over Reservoir #1. It feeds into #2 which feeds into Buckieburn Reservoir and it in turn feeds into Loch Coulter. Those Victorian builders of infrastructure. Amazing really. You can't call it remote because it isn't but it's tricky terrain. Not pretty but interesting. Lots of wind turbines which were lazy today in the still air but I bet they whizz round at times.
Home for some family and friend catchups this afternoon. Our meal tonight will be a scratch affair of stuff that needs to come out of the freezer.
This is the last day of the dry, still spell. Wind and rain from tomorrow. Autumn.
