On a Saturday? Surely not
Back home today, after a couple of days away on Civil Partnership "business". Back blips are here and here.
We left after breakfast, on a rather grey day, and drove through pretty rough weather until we got just short of Edinburgh when it cleared up and we could see it was very nice weather indeed on the other side of the Forth. Not for us, though. It would, like a just accomplished trip, be a breach of the guidance, if not the regulations (although our trip was excused because it was both pre-arranged and also for an important life course reason).
As we pulled into our street, we were somewhat bemused to see that the demolition contractors were at it. On a Saturday. I was actually not just bemused, but also frankly not amused, as only a few days ago they had three or four weekdays off for the Glasgow weekend. And now they think they can rock up on a Saturday. I suspect that the people here who rely on Saturday mornings for sleeping in were absolutely steaming.
The most ridiculous thing was that they were gone again before midday. I mean - what exactly is the point of that? They are obviously running behind, and they seem to be doing an extra hour in the evenings (although darkness will soon intervene), but turning up for three hours on a Saturday seems frankly pointless.
Anyway.... having got home by 11am, we had plenty of time for domestic catch ups of a boring nature, including back blipping, laundry, and an initial start on some photo editing that needs to take me back to the beginning of our trip to Mull. We seem to have been very busy since then. We're both very tired and will be having an early night. Yesterday was a lovely occasion, although 'administrative' in character, and it was not only good to have done that with norfolkdoc and W, but also to have shared it with L and Z, and to have had the opportunity to see Munroist and Mr C.
And when I finally got round to going downstairs to see whether we had any mail, I found our certificate in the postbox. That was quick. It's all somehow official now. However, Mr A seemed a bit put out that we didn't get a certificate each (which given the amount of money we've given them wouldn't seem ridiculous...). But I guess they think you are, for the time being at least, at the same address.
