The Rollright stones
We visited the Rollright stones today. This is a Neolithic site. There is the King stone, the king’s men, which is the main stone circle and then the whispering knights. This photo is the whispering knights which is actually an ancient burial site. It was very dramatic conditions with the dark clouds and yet some bright sunlight. There are several legends. The one I originally knew was that you can never count the number of stones. Each time you would count them you would get a different number. Another legend is that the whispering knights go down to the enchanted stream at night to drink. B and I remember coming here as children. Today we also walked around a wooded area which has some sculptures and dens made out of natural things like wood and leaves and grasses. It was actually quite spooky in the woods. It was a good afternoon.
