Week One draws to a close
Our new family member, a 12-week-old Schnauzer, seems to accept “Fritz the Ferocious” as a name... “Fritz” for short.
...we often call him by his late predecessor’s name... (“Shazoey the Wonder Dog”) but... “Fritz” is patient with our failings and mistakes... he’s learned to “sit.” He’s had only two accidents in the house. We try to take him out every two or three hours... except at night. He’s sleeping nightly in his special, private crate about six or seven hours. He cried a bit the first night. We ignored the pleas, and he settled down. We place the crate at night beside our bed. He seems to like that... I think he enjoys the soothing regularity of my old man snores and snorts.
I think we have to accept blame for the two accidents because we were not being attentive... and, as you probably know, a 12-week-old puppy demands 100-percent attention when out of the crate...
I tried to persuade “Fritz” to be an Ole Miss fan... but... unfortunately for me, my dear wife was more persuasive... and he now cheers (barks?) for Knoxville, The UT Vols,... my wife, sweet thing that she is, bleeds orange! So, she’s very pleased. I am long-suffering, patient, and accepting.
Go Vols, “Hotty Toddy,” and keep smilin’
