Listen!

A highlight today was going to listen to "Gospel in the Dark" at Biggest's school open day. There were many things to do at the open day but this was one I was most interested in. We were all given an eyemask and lead into the darkened music room by Malcolm Green who then proceeded to give us a good old proper gospel concert - not a gospel choir singing gospel songs but a proper bit of "praise and worship" complete with asking us if we could feel Jesus in the house and other stuff that my family found a bit bizarre, what with having been brought up as heathens. Having my eyes covered and listening to the hallelujahs took me back in time to when I used to do that kind of thing every Sunday morning and actually believed it all rather than just join in because it's fun. I remember all the people from those days with a lot of love and really appreciate the care they took of me though some pretty hard times. Whatever I think of religion these days, I will never forget the kindness shown to a rather moody and confused young person.
I can really recommend covering your eyes and listening to music as a way of relaxing and enjoying yourself - I felt like I'd been on holiday when it was finished, I was so relaxed and happy. Maybe a little bit of that holy spirit had touched me after all.
