Australian White Ibis
Sir Joseph Banks Park is one of those hidden parts of Sydney. In the late 19th century there was a grand Georgian-style hotel (now apartments) and extensive pleasure grounds. The zoo is now an animal sculpture garden, the athletic track unused, the pavilion has gone but there’s plenty of birdlife and few people.
The ibis are roosting in fallen trees in one of the algae-covered ponds.
