History ancient and modern

I went for a walk out from Stamford today. As well as a huge circuit of the massive Ketton limestone quarry I passed a variety of historic plaques and places. The photo commemorates WW2 Polish paratroopers - never forget how much the Poles did for us then. Also featured en route was a Roman ford once part of Ermine Street and a chalybeate spa spring from pre Victorian times.
