Difficult Day

Unfortunately, my 81 year old, insulin dependent diabetic mum became ill with a vomiting bug. GP tried her best to arrange a smooth hospital admission as she was becoming very dehydrated.
Sadly, due to an admitted "system failure", we ended up in A & E in one of the largest Teaching Hospitals in the country, waiting hours for basic obs, and even more hours to be seen by any medical personnel.
We were there to support and act as advocates for mum, having worked all of our professional lives in the NHS, and it was desperatelty hard to ensure that she got the care she needed. I am in despair for those elderly, who have no one to support them in similar situations - and so sad at what is happening to the NHS.
