Birsay

Megan is busy today. Claire and I are on our own. We start by visiting the Broch of Gurness, which is empty, but really impressive. In a way it’s better than Scara Brae, because you can get in among the stones, rather than being kept at a distance.

Then, we’re off the the Broch of Birsay, reaches across a causeway at low tide. Not as impressive a run, but a great island outcrop to wander round.
