Industrial wander

Today’s after work walk took me down the road to the Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Park.

I understand that what you see are the remains of a ventilation fan and shaft sinking engine which was acquired from Lingerwood Colliery, Newtongrange. It is a sirocco-type centrifugal fan, which would have been used underground to improve air quality.

The shaft sinking engine was made at the Earl of Dudley Iron and Steel Works in the West Midlands.

I hope you have had a good day.
