Half a Garden (widwed141020)

We drove to Westbury Court Garden today - having seen it on a channel 4 programme made during the period of our lockdown when they were closed to visitors.

Quite a fascinating place,  the house is gone and just about half of the original garden remains.  Originally built as a Dutch style water garden, or what English people thought was the Dutch Style, the central canal (2nd extra) survives along with most of the garden on one side of it.  The other side was built on in the late 60s and is now the site of a retirement home.   I'll put a panorama in the extra which shows the 60s building and part of the water garden.   Much better explained in the TV programme if you can watch it via the ITV player.

My main blip is a view of the formal garden,  restored to what it would have been in the early 1700s - being early Autumn there is not quite enough colour to fit the theme, but I'll tag it for wide Wednesday anyway :-)

I've had a go at combining a couple of images to get one without any visitors - which looks to have worked well enough?
